Spring Refresh: White Plastic Chair Cleaning Made Easy

White Plastic Chair After

I have had this white plastic chair tucked away in my garage for extra seating for any potential parties or get-togethers I could host, which work especially great for when I need additional seating outside on the patio during warm summer nights. When it caught my eye the other day, it was clear it was long overdue for some TLC. Covered in a layer of grime and looking downright uninviting, I knew it was time to roll up my sleeves and give them the thorough cleaning it deserved. It was time to refresh my white plastic chairs and restore their bright, fresh appearance for the season ahead.

A little disclosure

The chairs I have are more intended for the indoors, but I am sure that the basic concept of cleaning the chair can be translated over to outdoor lawn chairs. After all, both types of chairs are crafted from the same durable material and face similar challenges when it comes to dirt and grime buildup. Cleaning your lawn chairs is a great way to start off the spring cleaning season.

Today, I’ll guide you through the quicky, easy, and low-cost process of cleaning your white plastic chairs, so you can enjoy its bright, fresh look all season long. With just a few simple ingredients and some elbow grease, you’ll have your white plastic chairs looking as good as new in no time.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning Your White Plastic Chair

1. Gather Your Supplies: Before diving into the cleaning process, gather the following materials:

2. Create Your Cleaning Solution: Fill a bowl with warm water and add a generous squirt of dish soap. Sprinkle in some baking soda and give it a good swirl with your rag to create a powerful cleaning solution.

3. Pre-Soak the White Plastic Chair: Dampen your rag with the cleaning solution and use it to pre-soak the entire surface of the white plastic lawn chair.

4. Scrub Away Dirt and Grime: Dip your scrub brush into the cleaning water and start vigorously scrubbing the chair. Pay special attention to areas with stubborn stains or built-up dirt. Don’t forget to scrub all surfaces of the chair, including all nooks and crannies, the backside, and the bottom side.

5. Wipe Clean: As you scrub, periodically wipe off the dirtied water from the chair with the wet rag to reveal the progress you’re making. Just look how much of a difference I saw halfway through cleaning this chair! The bottom is what I cleaned and the top is what hadn’t been cleaned yet.

6. Optional Comet Treatment: For particularly stubborn stains or areas of discoloration, you may need to use a comet cleanser. Apply it sparingly to the affected areas and scrub with your brush until the stains are lifted.

7. Rinse and Dry: Once you’re satisfied with the cleanliness of your chair, give it a thorough rinse with a hose to remove any remaining soap residue. Alternatively, you can use a bucket of clean water and a wet rag to rinse. Allow the chair to air dry in the sun, or speed up the process by drying with a towel. Since I wanted my chairs back inside before nightfall, I decided to grab my trusty stained towel that I use solely for cleaning projects and dried all surfaces of the chair with that.

And just look at those results! My chairs have been completely transformed and all it took was some simply household supplies and some elbow grease.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully revived your seemingly irreversible dirty white chair and restored it to its former glory. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy your glowing chairs that is sure to impress any future guests.
